THE GCDE TOUR D'ELEGANCE
Friday, Dec. 1, 2022. Accepted participants of the Saturday Concours will be asked to participate in the Tour d'Elegance to demonstrate the road-worthiness of their vehicles. It is not mandatory, however extra points will be given to those who participate. The tour will be short, picturesque, including lunch, and at its conclusion you will be able to trailer or drive your vehicle to the show field parking area.
Application Deadline is August 1, 2023, and all applications will be reviewed by the Selection Committee, who will notify you as to its determination no later than Sept. 1, 2023.
Early applications are encouraged when developing the field of classes. In case of a tie, the date you submitted your application will be used as a tie-breaker as classes fill.
Acceptance Notifications will be emailed no later than September 1, 2023, and Participant Informational Packets will be mailed out simultaneously on Sept. 1, 2023 (90 days prior to the event.)
We require all accepted vehicles to commit to not participate in any event referring to itself as a "Concours" within the 6 months prior to the GCDE event (June 2022 - Dec 2023) within the counties of Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Manatee radius.
For those who won 1st place "Best in Class" in the past GCDE Concours, we ask that you please submit an application for a different car than the one shown in the past Gasparilla Concours d'Elegance.
It is a key component of a true Concours d'Elegance to offer a new field of vehicles to be judged each year. This is one of the many factors that sets a Concours d'Elegance apart from "car shows".
You are now part of an elite group of individuals who participated in the Gasparilla Concours d'Elegance!
Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, undoubtedly the most famous Concours in the country, states "we generally do not allow cars to return to our show field within a ten-year period unless they have changed ownership and are freshly restored (or they are an original preservation car). "
Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance, another one of the finest Concours' in the country, states "Once a car is accepted to the Concours, it cannot again be entered in the event for five years, with three exceptions; the ownership of the car has changed, the car has been restored, or if the featured marque is obscure, the Concours car selection committee can reach out to invite cars of varying restoration quality—or cars that have previously been entered in the Concours—in order to provide a healthy representation of the marque for exhibition".
We aspire to the standards of these great Concours' and have created a standard that we hope will benefit the growth of our "young" Concours as well as insure the quality and unique displays of the cars on our show field. With that in mind we require all accepted vehicles to commit to not participate in any event referring to itself as a "Concours" within the 6 months prior to the GCDE event (June 2022 - Dec 2022) within the Hillsborough, Pinellas or Pasco Counties.
